Statement

I work with wood, mostly recycled and other found objects. A large amount of unwanted Chinese broom handles (too short for the UK) came my way and I have enjoyed finding ways of using them. Salvaged objects take on a new lease of life The process of making the sculptures is equally important. I do everything by hand and this involves sanding and cutting and positioning so the end result is a culmination of that process. Discovering a life for a discarded object brings an unknown element to the sculpture and encourages my inventiveness.

Biography

I have not received any formal art training but have a degree in Botany and this love and appreciation of flowers and nature feeds into my work. Both my parents were professional artists.

I have published 30 childrens books and illustrated several of them.

I've had work in various open exhibitions and shown at the David Simon Contemporary in Castle Cary and Kunsthuis Gallery in Crayke.
