Aga Kubish ARE is an award-winning fine artist and printmaker based in Wales, UK. Her practice begins with photography and observational drawing, developing through highly detailed linocuts into layered works combining print, transparent fabric, stitching, artist’s books and alternative photographic processes.
Inspired by natural structures, architecture and the complex networks of branches and roots, her work explores ideas of shelter, human presence, connection and our relationship with the natural environment. Her recent project, The Shelter, transforms a monumental linocut through hand-printed negatives, Van Dyke prints, textile panels and stitched interventions, expanding printmaking from the surface of paper into installation and architectural space.
Aga discovered linocut printmaking in 2021 and was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 2022. Her work has received several awards, including the Bath Print Prize, and has been selected for major exhibitions across the UK. Her large linocut Green House forms part of the RE Diploma Collection. She studies an MA in Fine Art: Printmaking at UWE Bristol.
